Searching for a "restaurant customer review tool" leads to very different products: a free app, an AI reply assistant, a marketing suite with an agency, a certified review platform, a loyalty programme. Before comparing brands, identify the type of tool that fits your restaurant. This page helps with that; our guide to the best review software for restaurants then reviews the tools one by one.

In short: a single restaurant reviewed mostly on Google needs a Google review reply and collection tool, or even the free app if volume is low. A restaurant reviewed on TripAdvisor, TheFork or delivery apps needs a multi-platform tool. A group needs a multi-location dashboard. A franchise network needs a quoted platform. And whatever the tool, no incentive for reviews.

What a review tool should do for a restaurant

A good tool saves you time on four repetitive tasks, without putting your profile at risk.

  1. See everything in one place. New reviews land in a single inbox, with an alert for low ratings.
  2. Reply quickly and well. A draft written in your restaurant's tone, in the customer's language, that you approve or edit.
  3. Get reviews regularly. A QR code on the table or bill, an SMS after the booking, leading to your Google review page without filtering customers.
  4. Understand recurring themes. The most-mentioned topics (waiting time, cooking, welcome, noise) so you know what to fix in the dining room and kitchen.

Extra features (fake reviews, competitor watch, loyalty, SMS marketing) matter depending on your situation.

Which tool for your situation

Your restaurant's profile determines the type of tool, well before the brand.

You run one restaurant and get few reviews

Start for free. The Google Business Profile app lets you receive reviews and reply from your phone. Block ten minutes twice a week, keep three or four reply templates to personalise, and ask for reviews neutrally at the end of the meal. Our restaurant Google review reply templates are ready to adapt. Move to a paid tool the day you fall behind.

You run an active independent restaurant, reviewed mostly on Google

This is the typical use case for a self-service reply and collection tool. The criteria that matter: official Google connection, AI drafts in your tone, approval before publishing, QR code collection, no-commitment pricing. Also compare what is included: unlimited replies or credits, SMS, loyalty wheel, fake review detection.

Your restaurant is in a tourist area

Two needs are added: replying in the customer's language and following TripAdvisor. Check that the AI replies in the language of the review. If a large share of your reviews arrives on TripAdvisor, choose a tool that connects to it, or keep a manual routine for that platform with our guide to replying to TripAdvisor reviews.

You do a lot of delivery

Uber Eats and Deliveroo ratings are shown when customers choose where to order. Few tools cover them: check the list of connected platforms on the vendor's pricing page before subscribing. Dokaa, for example, lists them from its entry plan.

You run 2 to 10 restaurants

The need becomes organisational: who replies, for which site, in which tone, and how to compare locations. Look for a multi-location dashboard, per-user roles and volume pricing. Our method for managing Google reviews across multiple restaurants details how to split roles between head office and managers.

You run a franchise or network

From several dozen locations, quoted platforms (presence management, multiple sources, surveys, integrations) take over. Plan for a demo and contract cycle.

You are hit by fake reviews

A tool does not delete a review: only Google decides. It can, however, flag suspicious reviews and prepare the removal request. If that is your main problem, check that the tool offers this feature.

Questions to ask before signing

Ask each vendor these seven questions. A vague answer is a signal.

  • Does the Google connection go through official access to your profile? Be wary of tools asking for your password.
  • Which platforms are actually connected for reading and replying, not just display?
  • Does the AI publish on its own? If so, can you limit automation to simple reviews and keep control of sensitive ones (allergy, food poisoning, accident)?
  • What is the commitment and how do you cancel?
  • What is billed on top: SMS, users, locations, setup?
  • Can you export your data (customer contacts, history) if you leave?
  • Does the collection process comply with Google's rules?

Three common mistakes

Attention

Offering a dessert or a spin of the wheel for a review. Google's policy prohibits any incentive in exchange for a review, as well as selectively soliciting positive reviews. A loyalty wheel can exist, but with no link to reviews.

Screening customers before asking for a review. Asking "Did you enjoy your meal?" and only sending those who say yes to Google is prohibited by the same rules. Ask everyone, with neutral wording: "Your feedback helps us, you can leave it here."

Switching on automatic publishing without safeguards. A generic reply to a customer reporting an allergy or food poisoning stays online under your name. Keep these reviews on manual approval.

Our position

Ma Belle Note is a self-service Google review reply and collection tool for independent restaurants and small groups: approved AI drafts, sensitive reviews always held back, fake reviews, competitor watch, loyalty wheel and SMS included, at €29 or €49 excl. VAT per month with no commitment. It does not cover TripAdvisor or delivery platforms. If that matches your situation, see the pricing page or try it free for 7 days, no credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

What is a customer review tool for restaurants?

It is software that gathers the reviews left about your restaurant (Google, and depending on the tool TripAdvisor, TheFork or delivery apps), helps you reply, often with AI, and makes it easier to ask for reviews after the meal by QR code or SMS. Some add reports, fake review detection or loyalty features.

Does a restaurant need paid software to manage reviews?

Not always. If you get a few reviews a week, only on Google, the free Google Business Profile app is enough to read and reply from your phone. A paid tool becomes useful when volume makes you fall behind, when reviews arrive on several platforms, or when you run several locations.

How much does a restaurant review tool cost?

In September 2026, public prices range from €0 (free Google tools) to €29 to €99 excl. VAT per month for self-service tools, €59 to €79 excl. VAT for a restaurant-specialised tool, and up to €169 per location for a managed suite. Network plans are usually quoted. Always check the commitment and what is billed on top.

Can my reservation software handle reviews?

Some reservation systems send a review request after the visit, but they may collect those reviews on their own platform rather than on Google, and don't necessarily reply to Google reviews for you. Check what your reservation tool already does before adding another, so you don't ask the same customer twice.

Can I offer a dessert in exchange for a Google review?

No. Google's policy prohibits offering incentives (discounts, free goods, payment) in exchange for reviews, and soliciting only satisfied customers. You can ask all your customers for a review in a neutral way, and separately run a loyalty programme with no link to reviews.

Ready to make your rating shine?

Reviews answered, customers coming back, a reputation on the rise. All from a single app.
